Problem

This beautiful Botticino Marble floor was a brand new installation, but the homeowners weren't completely satisfied with the outcome. They wanted the floor to look like one giant, gorgeous piece of marble.

Notice in the BEFORE images that the floor is covered in slabs of stone, not tiles, and that there are no true grout lines, just joints, that is, the small spaces between the slabs.

Because of property rules and regulations, this job had to be completed between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm on weekdays.

Solution

First we filled the grout lines with tinted epoxy to eliminate the spaces between the slabs and achieve a uniform, monolithic appearance. Then we ground the floor to ensure each slab was completely level with each adjacent slab.

After grinding, the floor had a very dull, rough appearance, but that didn't last long. Honing and polishing soon brought the elegant shine back to this marble floor, as you can see in the final images.
